Reconstruction of erosivity density in northwest Italy since 1701

چکیده
Societies can be better prepared to face hydrological extremes (e.g. flash floods) by understanding the trends and variability of rainfall aggressiveness its derivative, erosivity density (ED). Estimating extended time series ED is, however, scientifically challenging because paucity long-term high-resolution pluviometric observations. This research presents longest reconstruction (1701–2019) in northwest Italy (Piedmont region) date, which is analysed identify damaging periods. With this aim, we developed a model consistent with sample (1981–2015) detailed novel Revised Universal Soil Loss Erosion-based data documentary extreme records. The modelled show noticeable rising trend from 1897 onwards, together an increase values for return periods 10 50 years, Clausius‐Clapeyron scaling rainfall. We also suggest North Atlantic Oscillation Multidecadal may associated Piedmont.

Rainfall erosivity in Italy: a national scale spatio-temporal assessment
Soil erosion by water is a serious threat for the Mediterranean region. Raindrop impacts and consequent runoff generation are the main driving forces of this geomorphic process of soil degradation. The potential ability for rainfall to cause soil loss is expressed as rainfall erosivity, a key parameter required by most soil loss prediction models. In Italy, rainfall erosivity measurements are l...
متن کاملEvaluating the Spatial-Temporal Variations of Rainfall Erosivity and Erosivity Density (A Case Study: Menderjan Watershed, Isfahan Province)
Rainfall erosivity is one of the factors determining the amount of water erosion in the soil. Rainfall erosivity is determined by the total rainstorm energy and the maximum intensity in 30 minutes (I30). Since rainfall erosivity is closely related to the amount and intensity of rainfall, it is expected that the rainfall erosivity would change monthly and seasonally throughout the year. The mai...
متن کاملVariability of Rainfall Erosivity and Erosivity Density in the Ganjiang River Catchment, China: Characteristics and Influences of Climate Change
Soil erosion is one of the most critical environmental hazards in the world. Understanding the changes in rainfall erosivity (RE) and erosivity density (ED), as well as their affecting factors, at local and catchment scales in the context of climate warming is an important prerequisite of soil erosion prevention and soil loss risk assessment. The present study identified the variability and tre...
متن کاملRainfall erosivity in Europe.
Rainfall is one the main drivers of soil erosion. The erosive force of rainfall is expressed as rainfall erosivity. Rainfall erosivity considers the rainfall amount and intensity, and is most commonly expressed as the R-factor in the USLE model and its revised version, RUSLE. At national and continental levels, the scarce availability of data obliges soil erosion modellers to estimate this fact...
متن کاملA comparative study of rainfall erosivity estimation for southern Italy and southeastern Australia
In this paper, using Sicilian and Australian rainfall intensity data, a comparison between different estimators (modified Fournier index F, FF index) of the rainfall erosivity factor in the USLE was made. The relationship between the modified Fournier index and the mean annual rainfall, P, was theoretically derived. The K constant, linking the FF index and P, and its cumulative distribution fun...
